Elizabeth McDonald is the General Manager for the Diversity, Inclusion and STEM Program within the Bureau of Meteorology. She leads the Bureau’s actions on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reconciliation, Gender, Disability, LGBTIQ+ and Multicultural Access and Equity. The Program also provides leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach and engagement through a network of Bureau STEM Ambassadors.
Elizabeth began her career at CSIRO as an experimental scientist. She then moved to the Department of the Environment as a spatial information specialist before moving to the Bureau of Meteorology as the Project Manager for the Hydrologic Geospatial Fabric. She has held various leadership roles in the Bureau including Executive Officer to the CEO of Meteorology, Business Manager for the Information Systems and Services Division prior to her promotion to General Manger level. Her qualifications include a First-Class Honours Degree in Applied Science from the University of Canberra; a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from the Australian National University; a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from Flinders University; and Master of Arts in Public Sector Leadership and Public Policy from Griffith University.
