Westpac New Zealand continues its ambition to be the country’s leading mobile bank, with the upcoming launch of its new internet banking platform, which will officially be available to customers in early 2015.
Westpac New Zealand customers are set to gain further access to the innovations the bank has been working on this year with the launch of the mobile application.
The new application will compliment the bank’s recent announcements around payments with the launch of the Westpac mobile wallet and PayTag.
The application will form part of Westpac New Zealand’s fully responsive online banking platform, with the bank pioneering one banking experience across all devices.
Customers will be given three exclusive features: Quick Access, Quick Transfer and Spending Meter – the ability to see their bank balance on all or selected accounts and transfer money between those accounts; transfer funds of up to $500 to pre-selected accounts; and monitor their spending behaviour on their mobile device – all without logging in.
It will be an opt-in service with a one-time set-up, after which customers will be able to access their account information without logging on in future.
“It is about delivering faster, smarter, easier everyday banking solutions for our customers,” said Westpac New Zealand’s Chief Digital Officer, Simon Pomeroy. “This is part of that, alongside our mobile wallet and digital suite, affirming our position as the leading mobile bank in New Zealand.”
Westpac New Zealand will be the first bank globally to integrate New York based start-up Moven’s Spending Meter, while it is also a first for the application’s services being available to customers collectively.
“The innovation is globally groundbreaking,” said Pomeroy.
Customers interested in trialing the application can get in touch with the bank through Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin to gain access to a special application, try it out and give feedback prior to the launch.
The services have already been available to Westpac New Zealand customers and staff in beta over the last 12 months via mobile web browser, and customers will be given the ability to download the application when it is officially launched in 2015.
