About the Event

FST Media is delighted to host an executive-led roundtable discussion on “Technology, Compliance & Security across NZ Financial Services” alongside our partners Thales Group.

Connecting executives from across the Financial Services industry, we will unpack key issues, trends and concerns within New Zealand’s financial services security landscape, over a complimentary three course service at the private dining room of Onslow Restaurant, on May 16th from 12-2pm.

As the regulatory and technology environment continues to evolve, security, technology & data leaders need to consider a range of competing and shifting priorities; balancing enterprise resources, minimising risk, reducing cost and process inefficiencies and maintaining customer centricity across all channels.

Joining us from Thales Group will be Erick Rayes, Regional Director, Data Security, Australia and New Zealand, and Anthony Bodin, Key Account Director, A/NZ, to delve into the below discussion points:

  • Securing a resilient data environment. Cloud adoption enables agility but is accompanied by risk: vendor sprawl, technical debt, third-party risk, cloud skill shortages and the movement of customer data through different environments create security concerns and instability. Discuss maintaining visibility over data to ensure security, reduce costs and drive simplicity & sustainability.

  • Open Banking, the Customer & Product Data Bill: What concerns do open-banking protocols raise with the SOC and data teams? Payments NZ identified gaps between PCI data security and existing legislation – With $6 trillion in annual transactions, this is a significant risk for security teams and the enterprise – what other areas need to be addressed to ensure alignment between the customer, compliance requirements, open banking imperatives and security measures?

  • Data Breach: How your data is secured defines your response to a potential data breach. We’ll address “what good looks like”: Communicating to the Board, customers and media, how to secure your data to minimise fallout, inform robust action plans and maintaining critical control.

  • Future thoughts: Financial services are seeing an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape, alongside a shift in threat actor motivations, heightening risks and consuming time for the SOC. Together we’ll assess the future of the threat landscape, consider what the adoption of AI, quantum computing means, and the basic tenets required to keep data secure and accessible, and operational resiliency at the core of enterprise strategies.
